New Year, New Site Design

by Jaime

The only thing that’s constant in this world is change. Change, I believe for better or for worse, is good. Real estate is no different. Long gone are the days when homes were listed in a phonebook-sized-rarely-updated directory. Today, 87% of home buyers start their home search on the web, which is constantly been updated. I know there are some great national real estate websites out there, but how many are great Westchester real estate website?

As the market and the needs of the customers change, so must we as real estate agents. It is called evolution. I decided to make the changes to the website for a couple of reasons:

1-I’m compulsive. I just can’t let it be. I don’t like having what others have. If it looks like someone else’s I will ditch it and get a new one. That’s just the way I am.

2-I have a background in technology and therefore I know what’s possible. The problem is I sometimes think can harness it’s power and put it all on my site. It’s a work in progress. Rome wasn’t built in one day, right? Yes, I’ve rebuilt it a couple of times already, but it’s always in an effort to build it better than the previous version. And the changes, excuse me, evolution, will never end.

3-I think a website site says a lot about it’s creator. Some sites say “I’m pretentious”, some say “I don’t know anything about design so I paid someone else to do it” and some say even say “I’m void of commitment and creativity so copied someone else’s site”. I hope my says “I’m dedicated, simple and straightforward. And this is the guy I need to hire for all my real estate needs.” (you have read between the design)

I’ve changed my site so many times that I barely remember the first iteration. I guess that’s a good thing so I don’t use any of those design elements again. Now I’m running on WordPress on the Thesis Framework, with a lot of CSS code and Javascript all to make the search experience more pleasant for my visitors.

Now, now that I built it, will more people visit? We shall see.

So what’s New:

1-Easy Search: The search feature is front and center-what else do you want to do on a real estate site? The other items with less priority, like the blog, are spread around it the search feature.

2-Market Reports – Numbers never lie, and neither do these market reports. They are comprehensive and specific to each town in Westchester. And more importantly, they are free.

3-Foreclosures is the new hot topic. The 2nd button on the right gives you a complete list of all the foreclosures listed in the MLS in Westchester County-EVERYTHING!

4-Easy Search Menu – Although we cover every town in Westchester, I added a couple of quick town search menu items across the top.

And as always, I’m open to suggestions. If there’s anything I could do to make the site more useful, please feel free to post a comment below.

You’ve hit it out the park this time.
It’s simple and clean just like one of the most popular websites, Google. Great job. This by far is your best version. Don’t clutter it up. lol
